Life doesn’t stand still. Marriage, children, new jobs, or even inflation can reshape your financial responsibilities in an instant. Yet many people in Botswana keep the same insurance policy they bought years ago—without checking if it still meets their needs.

A regular insurance policy review in Botswana ensures your cover grows with you, protecting the right people with the right benefits at the right time.

Why Reviews Matter

Insurance isn’t something you buy once and forget about. Without updates, you risk underinsurance, expired riders, or naming the wrong beneficiaries. For example, if your policy still lists an ex-spouse or a parent who has passed away, your loved ones may miss out on crucial benefits.

A proper review of insurance coverage aligns your protection with your current financial goals, lifestyle, and family structure—giving you confidence that your future is secured.

Key Life Events That Trigger an Insurance Review

Certain milestones should always prompt a fresh look at your policies:

  • Marriage or Divorce – Your spouse may need to be added or removed as a beneficiary.

  • Birth or Adoption of a Child – Ensuring children are protected often requires updating life or Thebe Funeral Plan coverage.

  • Starting a Business – Entrepreneurs often need to reassess cover for both personal and business responsibilities.

  • Buying Property or Taking on Debt – New loans may require higher cover amounts.

  • Death of a Family Member or Beneficiary – A policy may need to be reassigned.

  • Major Health Diagnosis – An insurance reassessment may help you add critical illness riders.

  • Promotion or Retirement Planning – Increased income or future retirement shifts your financial priorities.

Each of these milestones shows why a life changes insurance Botswana approach is essential—your cover should adapt as your circumstances evolve.

What to Look For When Reviewing Your Policy

When conducting a review, use this checklist as a guide:

  • ✅ Update beneficiaries Botswana – Is your list current? Do you need to update any beneficiaries.
  • ✅ Premiums – Are payments still affordable, or should they be adjusted?
  • ✅ Riders – Do you need add-ons such as cashback or critical illness cover?
  • ✅ Coverage Amount – Is your sum assured enough for your family’s present lifestyle and debts?
  • ✅ Terms & Exclusions – Have you read the fine print recently?

Tip: Consider creating a calendar reminder to check these points yearly.

How Often Should You Review?

As a rule of thumb, policies should be reviewed every 12 to 18 months—or immediately after any major life event.
